This virtual workshop aims to open a dialogue on how photography can be used to reorient architecture and offer new perspectives of the built environment. Participants will engage in discourse on abstract and unconventional methods of composition in image-making, followed by a short break to create their own geometric photographs and a final hour for group feedback.
Ashini Nanayakkara uses photography to explore the formal arrangements of shape, line, colour, and pattern to create illusory and geometric compositions. By testing the medium’s capacity for abstraction, her work seeks to extend the vocabulary of photographic representation and create new ways of seeing in the digital age.
