We are looking forward to welcoming environmental conservationist Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne to the Bawa Space for his talk on Conservation by Design; reducing wildlife deaths by integrating design, sustainability and wildlife.
Drawing on a professional background in conservation management, de Silva Wijeyeratne will examine some of the challenges faced in Sri Lanka today, and discuss how we can balance design, urban planning and economic development with wildlife conservation. The talk will also look at the application of different techniques and smart technologies to decrease human–wildlife conflict and improve interdisciplinary dialogue in the field.
Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne is Chairperson of PLANT (Preserving Land and Nature), and former President of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS). He works extensively with businesses on building partnerships to resolve conservation issues and find solutions.

Chairman of PLANT (Preserving Land and Nature), and a recent Past President of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS), Sriyan and his passionate team engineered a massive transformation and a renaissance of the WNPS during his tenure. The key ideator of PLANT, the Emerald Trails, and the notion of a Sri Lanka Leopard Day, he also served as the Editor of the Loris Journal, and chaired the Wildcats Subcommittee at WNPS. He held several leading corporate and other roles across his multifaceted career and played catalytical roles in many as a CEO or Chairman. A Business Transformation Practitioner, Conservationist, and Social Catalyst, he has several academic and business awards to his credit. Engaging in local and global charities, he has served on several Boards, including Youth Business International of UK. He currently spends most of his time working on Conservation issues and solutions, and Consulting with limited business entities. He is a published wildlife photographer and passionate about travelling, music, and Community work.
