South Asian Design Educators Alliance (SADEA) and People’s Graphic Design Archives (PGDA) are partnering with the Geoffrey Bawa Trust for a discussion on digital archives in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This panel discussion will look at the limited representation of South Asian visual culture within existing digital archives and what it means to make this heritage openly accessible online in an age of AI scraping. The panel will explore the importance of digitising and making archives accessible, the potential for such initiatives to contribute to decolonising digital archives, and the risks of making cultural material freely available for automated collection and appropriation.
