Join Mooniak co-founder and exhibition co-curator Kosala Senevirathne for a Sinhala tour of the Akurugraphy exhibition. With a focus on his native script, Sinhala, Kosala’s practice spans typeface design, typographic research, and multiscript editorial design. He is guided by a commitment to bridging communication gaps among Sri Lanka’s official languages.
The tour will conclude with a demonstration of the antique Albion Press by Sajaan Peiris, curator of the W A Silva Museum and restorer of the Albion Press currently on display at Akurugraphy. The Albion Press is an early iron hand letterpress originally designed and manufactured in London. Letterpress printing on machines such as the Albion was the dominant industrial printing technique worldwide until the late 1970s.
