Wood Type Cleaning Day with Akuru Collective

  • W. A. Silva Museum 126 W.A. Silva Mawatha Colombo, Western Province, 00600 Sri Lanka (map)

Typography is more than creating and utilising different fonts; it encompasses culture, communication, and creativity. Led by members of the Akuru Collective, this workshop will introduce participants to the world of typography, with special focus on woodblocks and letterpress printing.

The Akuru Collective is a community that brings together people who are passionate about lettering, type design, visual communication, and the stories behind written forms. Participants will join the Akuru Collective at the W. A. Silva Museum for Language, Literature and Typography for a guided session on restoring Sinhala woodblock type and the art of letterpress printing.

Admission is free with prior registration.
